Valley Center Brewery- Valley Center, California
Valley Center Brewery opened five days ago and I was excited to make the trek to taste their beers. It was a perfect fall day for the drive, especially in my Silver Bullet (it has a sunroof). Fall season in the back country is very pleasant, and visiting the new brewery in Valley Center made it more so.
The brewers were brewing in the back brew house when I arrived, and the aroma of the boil lingered in the air. I was warmly welcomed by staff, found a place to sit at the bar in the tasting room, and studied their current list of nine brews.
I decided to taste their Stardust Ale, an IPA with 77 IBUs and 7% ABV. It was as described: bold malt profile, hop balanced, with vanilla/caramel/nutty notes, and a crisp citrusy finish. Staff provided me with water and samples of their other beers, which were also very nice.
Because the brewers are still adjusting their system I decided not to rate any of the new beers. Instead, I plan to head back to Valley Center and order a flight to taste, and then rate one or two of the ones locals prefer. Plus, I want to visit the museum to check out the bear.
What bear, I hear you cry? Google it for a surprise California history lesson.
By the way, Valley Center Brewery has excellent customer service and staff know their beers. The tasting room is nice, and there is an outdoor patio where it is pleasant to relax and enjoy craft beer in the clean country air.
