Legacy Brewing Company, Inc.- Oceanside
The Emancipation Hoplimation at Legacy Brewing is the embodiment of a “San Diego Pale Ale,” also known as a Double IPA or Imperial IPA. For although it has 110 IBUs and is 9% ABV, it is very easy to drink. I think Vinnie Cilurzo himself, who first brewed and made the DIPA famous, would like this beer.
Here’s my description of this fine brew:
Dark amber color, with a bubbly white head that dissipates to delicate lacing. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, orange, and caramel. Subtle sweetness, not too heavy on the palate, with layered flavors of orange, resin, grapefruit, and caramel candy. Malty character with a barley wine-like body, tilting toward a bold hop bitterness. Overall, a delicious San Diego Pale Ale. I would pair this brew with barbecued game, especially venison, elk, or moose.
Next time I’m in Oceanside I plan to taste some of their other beers:
Legacy Brewing is easy to get to and find. It’s right off Highway 76, near Oceanside Airport, two miles east of Interstate 5. Cheeers!Share This:
