Mother Earth Brew Company- Vista
I finally made it to Mother Earth Brew Company. Located in the City of Vista, they are one of the stars in the cluster of craft breweries in North San Diego County. I’ve been enjoying their beers out of a bottle for a long time and have wanted to visit the brewery since consuming a Boo Koo IPA.
Although Mother Earth’s beers are fine from the bottle, drinking them fresh at the brewery again proved Michael Jackson “The Beer Hunter” was right when he said:
“Taste beers where they were made and they taste like nothing else in the world.”
Boo Koo (6.5% ABV/65 IBUs) is one of my favorite bottled beers made by Mother Earth, so when I got to the brewery I didn’t hesitate to order a pint. “Was it better at the brewery than from a bottle,” I hear you cry? Oh, yeah! It’s a beer worth traveling for; a classic American IPA revved up San Diego-style:
Served in a pint glass, Boo Koo is a copper color, clear, with a fizzy white head. Aromas are fresh-squeezed grapefruit, pine, flowers, earth, and mango. Flavors are similar to aromas, with a tilt toward classic bitterness. Mouthfeel is light, almost creamy, with medium carbonation and a crisp, clean finish. Overall, this is a well-made IPA that I will return for. Until then, Boo Koo will be a regular bottle in my fridge.
Note: Another Mother Earth favorite of mine is Cali’ Creamin’, a vanilla Cream Ale. I had a taster of it when I was at the brewery, and it too, was remarkable.
