About:  San Diego Brewing Company is one of the three independent breweries located under one roof at H.G.Fenton‘s newest Brewery Igniter project in North Park. Unlike the other two breweries which are newcomers to the industry, San Diego Brewing (North Park) is a satellite brewery of the original San Diego Brewing brewpub which has brewed craft beer in Grantville since 1993.

Head brewer Jeff Drum is brewing on a 10-barrel Premier Stainless System and serving core beers in a custom, kid-friendly, dog-friendly tasting room. One of those core beers is the award-winning San Diego IPA (7.3% ABV/75 IBU). Another is my long-time favorite, Infinitude IPA (9.0% ABV/85 IBU).

Also brewing in the brewhouse is Drum’s partner Cary DiNapoli. She brews kombucha for the tasting room which is served on draft as well as on nitro. When I visited a Blood Orange kombucha was available on nitro.

The tasting room features an open ceiling hung with modern light fixtures, a poured-in-place cement bar top, long tables, plenty of stools, and a nice view of the brewhouse. Natural light and fresh air pour into the space through a big roll-up door at one end of the suite. Vertical gardens with tropical plants hang on walls next to the roll-up door. The vibe is laid back and casual, complemented by an eclectic mix of relaxing music.

What I Drank:  Osito IPA (7.5% ABV/85 IBU) is a hoppy IPA brewed with blood oranges. The beer has a pleasant aroma of citrus and orange flowers, a balanced flavor profile, a pronounced tartness, and clean finish. Overall, Osito is an exemplary IPA happily married with blood oranges. Quite tasty.

Likes:  Friendly, professional service. Beer-clean glassware! A nice variety of beer styles at reasonable prices. Free parking in their own lot, though it is shared with the other two breweries.

Dislikes: none

The Verdict:  San Diego Brewing North Park offers a great selection of its core beers and fresh-brewed kombucha. They also serve an alcohol-free root beer that I plan to try next time I visit. Beers are fresh and expertly brewed. I loved visiting and will return. Highly recommended.
