Beer Touring Like A Rock Star
Last night I had the pleasure of beer touring like a “rock star” by accompanying a foodie rock star on Brew Hop’s “The Beer Tasters Tour.” This 2 1/2 hour private brewery tour took us to two of my favorites, Modern Times Beer and Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens at Liberty Station.
It was great riding in style for a change. Brew Hop put us in one of their luxurious “flashy rides,” a black Lincoln Navigator, for the tour. They picked us up at the U.S. Grant Hotel downtown where the rock star was staying and our Tour Host/driver whisked us off into the night.
Our first stop was at Modern Times. Though the tasting room was packed with patrons, our host quickly found us a place to sit, brought us a taster flight, introduced us to knowledgable brewery staff, and made our visit comfortable and enjoyable. Climbing back into the Lincoln we chatted about the beers and the San Diego craft beer scene in general.
Next our tour host brought us to Stone Brewing at Liberty Station. Again, we were quickly seated at a nice table in the dining area and were provided with fast service from staff. This time we selected a taster flight mix of Stone’s core beers and experimental brews. We also ordered appetizers to pair with the beers. A Stone beer ambassador provided us with an amazing amount of information about the brewery and the beers, and suddenly we were out of time.
Driving back to the hotel for the drop off the Lincoln was alive with beer talk. Our host was a craft beer enthusiast like us and gave much insight into the local scene. He made the whole experience safe, fun, and flawless.
Brew Hop’s goal is to provide craft beer enjoyment, consumption, and enlightenment. For my “rock star” friend and me, they achieved it.
