Home Brewing Company- San Diego (North Park neighborhood)

Home Brewing Company is an off-shoot of The Homebrewer brewing supplies and resource store on El Cajon Boulevard near 30th in North Park. Co-owner/Founder and Certified Beer Judge George Thornton and his team recently started brewing on a small batch system for their new tasting room, which is located next door to The Homebrewer store.

I visited during their soft-opening and was able to taste their Belgian Blond Ale, 4.75% ABV. Although this 200 gallon batch was brewed for transfer into Home Brewing’s sour barrels, 5 gallons of it was culled for the tasting room visitors to try. Here is my humble impression of it:

Home Brewing North Park

Golden color with white head of tiny bubbles.  Fresh, fruity aroma with hints of spice.  Deliciously rich flavors of banana and bubblegum, spiced with clove, pepper, and citrus peel.  Soft, smooth body, crisp on the palate, pleasant finish.

This beer is only available in 4 ounce pours, but I wanted more. Like the other small batch breweries in San Diego, this brewery is on my watch list.
