Beer Tripper’s Emergency Kit for the Car

When I lived in Alaska I learned to keep emergency supplies for cold weather travel in the car at all times. Even in the summer. This habit continued when I moved back to California, not just for cold/hot weather travel, but also for earthquakes.

While beer tripping in San Diego County, I recommend keeping an emergency kit in the car at all times. Here’s a list of items I keep in a small backpack in my car:

  • first aid kit
  • weather radio
  • maps
  • water
  • flares
  • phone charger
  • blanket
  • snacks
  • basic tools
  • jumper cables

I also keep a  small cooler and clean, unlabeled growler in the car just in case I need to fill it along the way.
