Four Craft Breweries Near Old San Diego Mission

Photo of entrance to Kensington Brewing Company

San Diego de Alcalá, founded in 1769, is California’s first mission. It has an interesting history which you can read about here. The mission is beautifully restored and open for self-guided tours, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., daily.

I highly recommend taking time out from your beer touring day to visit the mission. It’s a great detour for any type of beer trekker—solo, with a companion, with the family.

Here is a list of the four craft breweries nearby the mission:

Benchmark Brewing

Groundswell Brewing

Kensington Brewing

San Diego Brewing (brewpub)
